Last week Queens Council on the Arts hosted a poetry reading and networking event at the Transilvania Cafe in Sunnyside (yes that is the Romanian spelling for TransYlvania). Word Feast was a celebration of language, Queens style and featured readings by the Queens Poet Laureate, Paolo Javier, writers Dorothea Lasky and David Mills; a funky portrait of Dracula on the wall; and spirited Romanian music to round out the feast. Thanks to the locals who helped us have a great turnout in Sunnyside.
Word Feast marked the first of three dynamic Queens in Love with Literature (QUILL) events in 2010-2011 and is the debut event of the Queens Art Express (QAX) mixer series.
The Queens Poet Laureate is everywhere, go to Paolo Javier’s blog to see what he’s planning next.
