A Message From the New QCAF Director

Queens is an exciting place for art-our dynamic population has residents from all over the world, living next to each other in always unexpected combinations.  QCA's goal with the Queens Community Arts Fund is to foster a sense of community among artists of divergent backgrounds, and a greater awareness, among residents, of the artistic richness available in our borough.  We fund projects in all artistic genres, and encourage artists to strive for community inclusion in their work.

We also seek to give artists and cultural organizations a step up toward greater confidence and self-reliance when it comes to developing the professional and managerial aspects of their work, and our friendly but competitive granting system is often the first opportunity many artists in queens take to apply for public funding.

I’Äôm the new QCAF director, and I’Äôll be posting periodically about arts events in Queens, opportunities available to Queens artists and organizations, and issues relevant to those interested in applying for grants, whether through QCA or through other organizations.  Feel free to comment here about your own experiences, or to ask any questions you think might interest the community at large.
