To be eligible for the Individual Artist Initiative, you must be a Queens-based artist able to demonstrate your professional activity and recognition of your talents through grants, fellowships, or awards within the last five years. You must state your commitment to the program and be willing to mentor other Queens-based artists in the future. Full-time students are not eligible to apply. In a competitive evaluation process, applications will be evaluated by a panel of consultants.

Interested participants must complete a letter of intent by January 30, 2009. Applications must be received by February 27, 2009. This is a postmarked deadline. Artists intending to apply for the Individual Artist Initiative should attend a workshop in Fall 2008 that introduces the fundamentals of career planning: how to identify your goals, assess your professional needs, and develop an action plan and timeline. It will also cover strategic ways to get help and reach out to resources in your community.
